Press Release

Police Investigate Fatal Bicycle Collision

On Oct. 8 at about 6:02 p.m., Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a truck versus bicycle collision at the intersection of Harmony Road and Hinsdale Drive with injuries.

The bicycle was traveling east on Harmony Road in the bicycle lane. The 2004 Nissan Titan truck was traveling west on Harmony Road and made a left turn in front of the bicyclist onto Hinsdale Drive. The front of the bicycle collided with the passenger side of the truck.

The driver of the truck, Bradley Hansen, 50, of Fort Collins, was not injured. The bicyclist, James Fogelberg, 64, of Boulder, was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment of serious injuries. He later died at the hospital. Fogelberg was wearing a helmet. The cause and manner of death will be released by the Larimer County Coroner's Office.

The eastbound lanes of Harmony Road were closed between Shields and Mason Streets for approximately 3 ½ hours while investigators processed the scene. Police do not believe alcohol, speed or distraction contributed to the collision. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

Anyone with information about the collision, who has not already given a statement to police, is asked to contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-221-6555.
