Make The Gardens your next group destination!

Explore the science of nature and your community botanic garden with a guided tour and hands-on learning activities.

Offered Apr. 1 through Oct. 31:

  • Monday, 1:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 1:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
  • Friday, 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Please note: The Gardens' staff requires at least two weeks advance notice to book a field trip.

Selections include:

Garden Tour
This tour provides a complete view of the Gardens on Spring Creek. Visit The Children's Garden, Rock Garden, and Garden of Eatin'. Children will learn about seeds, plants, and the natural environment.
Length: 1 hour 30 minutes
Cost per student: $4

Seed-centric Tour
Students explore seeds through four hands-on activity stations including What is a Seed?, How Seeds Move, Seeds We Eat and Plants that Grow without Seeds.
Length: 1 hour 30 minutes
Cost per student: $4

Tree-mendous Tour
Tree Cookies, Wood You Believe, Tree Scavenger Hunt and Meet a Tree. Planting option includes learning to identify and plant Colorado tree seeds.
Length: 1 hour 30 minutes
Cost per student: $4

Gardens on Spring Creek and City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Combined Tour
This tour takes place at the Gardens on Spring Creek and features Natural Areas Plants Give Us Gifts and Hitch-hiking with a Green Thumb plus Gardens on Spring Creek Seeds We Eat and Exploring Seeds hands-on learning activities. Available on Wednesdays 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Includes a lunch break in the Children's Garden.
Cost per student: $4

  • Available to first grade classes only

Scout Badge Programs
Scout Badge programs offer hands-on exploration and activities led by Gardens on Spring Creek guides and are customized to fit the needs of your troop. Topics include gardening, natural resources, and cooking. Programs last two hours and cost $10 per scout. One adult required for every five scouts.

Important Tour Notes

  • Scholarships are available upon request.
  • Spanish interpretation is available upon request.
  • We ask that tours are scheduled two weeks in advance of your tour.
  • The Gardens is able to accommodate 60 youth per tour.
  • Tours take place outdoors. Please be sure your group is prepared for the weather. Bring a water bottle, extra layers/rain gear, appropriate footwear, sun hat/sunscreen.
  • We do not allow time for play in the Children's Garden during the tour. Please consider staying after your scheduled tour for a picnic lunch and/or time for self-guided play in the Children's Garden.

Self Guided Tours

Gardens Backpack Program
Designed for families and groups of youth backpack activities change with the season and lead you on a self-guided adventure through The Gardens. Backpacks are available for check out at the front desk. All activities are geared toward mixed-age groups. The Backpack Program, made possible via many hours of work by Colorado State University Human Development and Family Studies interns and a generous donation from our local REI.
