Project Updates

March 2018
The stage and surrounding western sound walls are a major focus of construction this month. Three twenty foot sound walls have been constructed to envelope the stage and to buffer the adjacent neighborhoods from noise. The steel supports for the overhang structure on the stage have been poured and are being prepped for the 70-foot overhang structures to be placed. Electrical trenching has been in process this month along with continued rock work in the raised garden bed areas. The Foothills and Undaunted Garden's boulders have been placed and are beginning to mark the structure of each of the gardens. A dry creek stream bed connects from under the Great Lawn to the Wetland area in the event of a flooding storm. The water will flow away from the lawn towards our wetland area where the water will have room to collect and flow away from the site.

February 2018
Great progress is being made on our themed garden rock work and pathways this month. The drystack walls for each themed garden are being built. The stage wall has cured and now the surrounding areas are being filled and tamped. Electrical power is scheduled to be trenched from the Visitor's Center to the stage area. Many large evergreen trees have been relocated from Colorado State University's Hughes Stadium to our site, making a dense tree grove in the NW corner of our site.

January 2018
Excavation continues on site with the base of the foundation of the stage taking priority. Much progress has been made on the stage footings and walls, which were formed and poured. In addition the beginning forms of the drystack rock walls are beginning to take shape for our main garden pathways. Topography of the site continues to take shape in the Foothills, Prairie, and Undaunted Garden. All building permits were received this month!

December 2017
The weather has been fantastic for progress being made at The Gardens. Topography of the site is beginning to take shape, with much of the "dirt piles" now forming garden berms. Yard stick colored poles mark the borders, pathways, and garden beds. At the end of the month, many large trees were dug and re-located from one side of the Gardens to the other to make room for the stage and other gardens planned in the expansion.

November 2017
The project kicked off with a ceremonial groundbreaking on November 7, 2017. Dozens of community members and City dignitaries, including Mayor Troxell and City Manager Darin Atteberry, were in attendance to celebrate the momentous occasion. At the close of November, four inches of top soil was scraped and piled to be used later in the project.
