Dear friends, neighbors and colleagues -

You may have read that Larimer County has submitted a variance request to the state seeking approval to slowly reopen some businesses ahead of the state’s Safer at Home guidelines. While that application is in process, it has not yet been approved by the state, and so for the time being all businesses should continue following current guidelines.

If the state does approve the variance, the Larimer County Department of Health & Environment will work with impacted businesses to outline further requirements in order to slowly reopen while maintaining customer and employee safety. Additional information from the county is below.

Darin Atteberry, City Manager

Larimer County Variance Request
Larimer County has submitted a variance request to the state seeking approval to slowly reopen certain businesses. If approved, the variance would not lift restrictions completely, but would allow some businesses to reopen with guidance from Larimer County Public Health.

Face coverings are still required in Larimer County and Fort Collins, and physical distancing, handwashing and frequent cleaning remain crucial to helping slow the virus spread. Those precautions must continue in order to allow Larimer County to move forward with reopening businesses as safer at home restrictions are lifted.

The next step is for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to review and approve some or all of the variance submitted by Larimer County.

Until and unless the state approves the variance and the health department can issue guidelines for safe re-opening, businesses must continue to follow all current restrictions and guidelines.
