Dear friends, neighbors and colleagues -

I hope you were able to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend. As we continue with ongoing services and recovery, the City is also shifting toward more future-oriented work, including how to proceed with certain issues before City Council, and adjusting the City’s budget to account for anticipated revenue shortfalls. Information about both of these items is included below.

City Updates

May 19 City Council Meeting
Tomorrow’s City Council meeting, which includes the second reading of the Hughes Stadium Site Rezoning, will be structured to allow for both remote and in-person public participation on all agenda items. In order to comply with current public health guidelines related to the COVID-19 outbreak, several modifications will be put in place to ensure physical distance and to limit the number of people inside Council Chambers.

For full details about remote and in-person participation, visit www.fcgov.com/news/?id=7765.

City Financial Update
Like many businesses, the City of Fort Collins is also experiencing decreased revenue due to COVID-19 closures. We are working to better understand the financial impact to the organization and to reduce expenses for the remainder of 2020, while also beginning to plan for a modified 2021 budget. Read more about our approach to weather this revenue shortfall from our Interim Chief Financial Officer.

Businesses Facing Big Challenges | We Want to Help
The Northern Colorado Regional Economic Development Initiative ("REDI") is a collaboration of economic developers representing 35 communities to support and strengthen Northern Colorado as one economic region. Fort Collins continues to partner with REDI on regional response and recovery.

We are working with partners across Larimer and Weld to document and communicate business challenges to elected officials and other decision makers, so that we can better act to support our businesses. The best way to initiate and design these helpful actions at both the community and regional level is to demonstrate the need for specific next steps through data. Please share vital knowledge with us in our regionally coordinated survey on business challenges, resilience and immediate needs in the Safer at Home phase.
