Even in the midst of the pandemic, our community continues to come together to achieve our climate action goals. Over 500 households engaged in our very first Earth Day Challenge and one lucky community member was the winner of an electric bike – see more below for this announcement and other ways to continue to engage in these challenging times.
In more personal news, I wanted to share with you all the exciting (and bittersweet) announcement that starting this week and running for the next 9-12 months, I will move into a new role as the City’s Interim Housing Manager. As you might have heard or can imagine, the City has enacted a hiring freeze as one of our first responses to reduce costs during significant and uncertain revenue decline. At the same time, housing continues to be a top priority for our community and Council, and this interim role is meant to bridge both current resources with high priority needs. Similar to you, I remain deeply committed to our climate action goals and am confident that the City’s efforts will continue as strong as ever during this time (as they have over the past 20+ years!). In our June newsletter, we will share with you who the Interim Climate Program Manager will be during my interim appointment. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
With that, happy reading, and thanks as always, for what you are doing for our community in these times.
