#GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving and unity is taking place today, May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.
Building and strengthening human connection is fundamental to Volunteer Service's mission. Yet, too many seniors are increasingly isolated, which is devastating to their mental and physical health.
Technology can serve as a vital connection to pair neighbors in need and City volunteers. Of course, technology can be daunting! The solution? Our tech-savvy volunteers have created an easy and friendly way to access video chat.
Announcing VirtuVisit, an Adopt A Neighbor program designed to virtually connect isolated seniors to their family, the volunteers who serve them, and even medical personnel.
Our partner, Associates in Family Medicine, will identify patients in need of social connection. Volunteer Services will purchase and prepare Facebook Portal devices. Our passionate volunteers will work with seniors to successfully connect to their friends and family!
Give today! Each donation of $150 to FC Volunteers connects a local senior to our community. VituVisit is not just a COVID-19 response, but a long-term solution to reduce social isolation and improve the productivity of the professionals caring for vulnerable residents.
