Welcome to the 2019 Event Season!

Welcome to the 2019 event season in Fort Collins! As in years past, there is a full schedule of exciting events planned for our community this summer. The City of Fort Collins Special Events Office will use this newsletter to keep you up-to-date with event information that you can use if you want to attend an event...or avoid an event. If you have questions or concerns about events permitted by the City of Fort Collins, please contact the Special Event Coordinator at 970-416-2303 or jasawyer@fcgov.com.

Below is information on several events taking place in the coming weeks.

Realities for Children Ride and Rally
What: The 18th Annual Realities for Children Ride and Rally includes a festival, live music, food and merchandise vendors, a car show, and a motorcycle poker run. Proceeds support the work of Realities for Children.

When:  Saturday, May 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
           Sunday, May 26 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Where: Civic Center Park and Washington Park in downtown Fort Collins

Admission:  Free

Road Closures: From 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 24 to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 27 the following streets will be closed:
     
     Howes Street from Maple to Mountain
     Laporte Avenue from Mason to Meldrum
     Maple Street from Howes to Meldrum
     Parking on the east side of Meldrum between Laporte and Maple

If your vehicle is parked on any of these streets, please remove it by 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 24 to avoid being towed

Old Town Car Show
What: The Old Town Car Show presented by Nelsen’s Auto Tech Center and Heilbrun’s NAPA has been an annual Downtown Fort Collins tradition for almost two decades. Nearly 300 automotive enthusiasts showcase a variety of makes and models along the streets of Old Town for the community to enjoy. The Old Town Car Show benefits the Fort Collins Downtown Business Association.

When: Saturday, June 1, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Admission: Free

Street Closures: The following streets will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on June 1

  Matthews Street at Mountain Avenue
  Mountain Avenue from College to Jefferson
  Walnut Street from Mountain to Linden

Taste of Fort Collins
This annual three-day festival offers attendees food from local and national restaurants, entertainment from regionally and internationally acclaimed musicians, beer and wine, and an eclectic display of fine artisans work as well as the region’s best crafters. Taste of Fort Collins continues to benefit the Eyeopeners Kiwanis Club of Fort Collins Foundation in its charitable activities in the community.

When: June 7-9, 2019

Time:  Friday, June 7, 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.
          Saturday, June 8, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
          Sunday, June 9, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Where: Civic Center Park & Washington Park

Cost:  $5 on Friday
          $10.00 on Saturday and Sunday before 3 p.m.
          $15.00 after 3 p.m. 
          Weekend passes for $20, and 2-day passes for $15,
          are the only tickets available in advance.

Street Closures: The following streets will be closed for The Taste of Fort Collins:

  Maple Street from Howes to Meldrum at 8:00 a.m. on Thurs., June 6
  Howes Street from Maple to Laporte at 5:30 p.m. on Thurs., June 6
  Howes Street from Laporte to Mountain at 5:30 p.m. on Fri., June 7
  Laporte Avenue from Mason to Meldrum at 5:30 p.m. on Fri., June 7

If you park on any of these streets, please move your car by the closure times to avoid being towed. All streets will re-open at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 9.

UNITE Full-Scale Exercise

While it is not a special event, like a festival or concert, we wanted to make you aware of an emergency preparedness exercise that will affect the area around the Larimer County Justice Center on June 5, 2019.

What:  Multiple agencies from northern Colorado will be participating in a full-scale, simulated emergency exercise. The UNITE Exercise is intended to test northern Colorado's first responder's arrangements for preparing for and responding to a multi-location, multi-victim incident.

When:  Wednesday, June 5, 2019

Where:  The exercise will take place at two locations: The Ranch in Loveland and the Larimer County Justice Center near Civic Center Park in Fort Collins.

 Closures: Nearby building and road closures are expected including:

      Laporte from Mason to Meldrum

      Howes from Laporte to Mountain

 For the safety of the public and for exercise participants, we ask that you use alternate routes to avoid the exercise locations.
