Dear friends, neighbors and colleagues -

My colleagues both in the City and across the community are beginning conversations about how Fort Collins transitions from an emergency response into sustainable operations and recovery. While our health experts have indicated that we are not yet at the peak of illness in Northern Colorado, these are important conversations as we all figure out how to move forward in the short and long term. I know that yesterday’s announcement that neither Poudre nor Thompson schools will resume in person education this school year was a particularly hard message, both for them to deliver and for so many in our community to receive.

Yesterday, Mayor Troxell and I, along with mayors and city managers from the larger cities in Colorado, met with Governor Polis. I was encouraged to hear that the state is beginning to believe that current measures are slowly starting to reduce the spread of the virus. While this is good news, it also reiterates the need for all of us to continue to follow public health recommendations and abide by the Stay-at-Home Orders.

Take care,

Darin Atteberry, City Manager

We have modified our procedures and protocols; all employees and contractors are practicing physical distancing whenever possible and are using protective equipment.

Extended PSD School Closure
Yesterday, based on the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment’s recommendation, both Poudre School District and Thompson School District announced that they will not resume in-person education for the remainder of this school year. Statewide, Governor Polis has extended all public and private school closures through April 30.
