The City of Fort Collins, at the direction of City Council and voters, is moving forward with building and implementing high-speed next-generation broadband to the entire community. This will take 36 to 48 months with expected completion in 2021.
June 2019: The Connexion team will be at Taste of Fort Collins and Open Streets. Stop by our booth and say hello!
May 2019: Constriction is in full swing. Any questions or concerns about work in a neighborhood, including lawn restoration, can be directed to 970-674-7800.
March 2019: The Connexion Outside Plant Team successfully installed our broadband network huts. These huts will be the essential core locations for our fiber optics, which will branch out to the community.
February 2019: Fort Collins Connexion hosted a Groundbreaking Ceremony on February 28th at 700 Wood Street. Mayor Wade Troxel, City Manager, Darin Atteberry, and Broadband Executive Director, Colman Keane addressed community members who attended the special event. Connexion partners set up demonstration stations for residents to learn more about the construction process and the work our Outside Plant and Network teams are doing to build our state-of-the-art fiber network. Watch the video!
January 2019: Full network construction is in progress and residents can expect to see crews and contractors beginning the initial work to install state-of-the-art network fiber optics in neighborhoods around the city. We will be building in different locations across the city at the same time to get the most people on the network in the fastest and the most efficient way possible within city limits.
November 2018: Initial construction began with Connexion crews, in partnership with City Light & Power and the City's third-party contractor, AEG, working on the initial fiber pull for our core ring. The ring is essentially the backbone of our network and crews will build out to the entire city limits from there.
