Description

The landscape surrounding the City of Fort Collins Nix Farm Natural Area offices has evolved into a series of interpretive gardens featuring native plants and wildlife. The art piece "Prairie Bouquet" is designed as a 15'x15' space for visitors to gather and experience the gardens in complementary and evocative setting. The piece is a small plaza with ten stone seating elements. The forms and materials are derived from the existing art piece "Hidden Habitats" that was also constructed by Joe McGrane in 2002 and located just east of the site. The plaza paving is a stone mosaic patterned after the Prairie Coneflower, a common native plant featured in the garden. The plaza derives its vase-like form and imagery from a bouquet.
