Zero Waste Resources

What is Zero Waste?

In a nutshell, rather than considering discarded materials as problems to our Fort Collins community, Zero Waste recognizes these as resources that need to be better managed to reinvest in the local economy.

The Zero Waste (PDF 149KB) approach will create local jobs, help local businesses operate more efficiently at reduced costs and liabilities, and reduce greenhouse gases. By using a Zero Waste approach to the planning process, we ensure that all options are considered that could contribute toward that goal.

Throughout 2013, the City has explored its investment on the Road to Zero Waste. Check out The Future of Waste in Fort Collins (PDF 1.4MB) for background information where we've been and where we hope to go.
