Drinking Water Fluoridation

As part of ongoing education about the current fluoridation program and the types of fluoride products used in fluoridation, the City provides the following information:

The City of Fort Collins Utilities adds fluoride to its water resulting in fluoride levels in the range of 0.7 to 1.2 milligrams of fluoride per liter of treated water, with a target amount of 1.0 milligram per liter. This fluoridation has been part of the Utilities' treatment process for over 30 years and is currently accomplished through the addition of hydrofluorosilicic acid. If you or members of your household are sensitive to fluoride or fluoridation-related substances, or provide City water to an infant younger than six months of age, please consult with your physician or other health expert regarding fluoridation-related precautions you may want to consider.
