Pollution Control Laboratory
The Water Pollution Control Lab ensures that treated wastewater is safe to put back into the environment. The Lab works to meet all analytical and reporting requirements of the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits. Other responsibilities include:
- Microbiological, chemical and physical testing services for ongoing process control and biosolids management operations at Utilities two water reclamation facilities;
- biosolids, surface and groundwater testing and permit compliance monitoring at the Resource Recovery Farm;
- testing and reporting analytical results for the Industrial Pretreatment Program, which works with area businesses to monitor waste discharge;
- weekly monitoring of flow and water quality conditions in the Cache la Poudre River at sites above and below the water reclamation facilities; and
- comprehensive microbiological, chemical, physical and flow monitoring of the Poudre River eight times a year.
