Rigden Water Storage Project

The Rigden Water Storage Project is a new raw water storage facility, located in an existing gravel pit east of Ziegler and north of Horsetooth Roads. Construction began in February and project completion is scheduled for April 2015.

This project will provide additional storage capacity for Fort Collins Utilities and some space will be dedicated to Fort Collins Natural Areas. The storage reservoir will be lined using clay from the bottom of the gravel pit to prevent leakage.

Throughout the project, over 2 million cubic yards of material (equivalent to 612 Olympic-sized pools) will be removed from the reservoir, with half remaining on site for reuse. A pump station, 4,400 feet of large pipe and several concrete structures also will be constructed.
