Hazardous Waste Disposal


Federal regulations require all commercial and industrial users of publicly owned wastewater collection systems to report any discharge of substances, defined or listed at 40 CFR 261 as hazardous or acutely hazardous waste, if more than 15 kilograms (33 lbs) per month of a hazardous waste or any quantity of an acutely hazardous waste is discharged. The written report must be submitted to Fort Collins Utilities, EPA Region 8 and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

The Industrial Pretreatment Program supports the proper disposal of all hazardous waste, commercial and household. Businesses and residents can participate in several local and state programs to prevent hazardous waste from entering our wastewater.
