Fort Collins Utilities currently limits simple net metering to 10 kW for residential customers and 25 kW for commercial customers. The rebates are capped at 3 kW for residential installation and 10 kW for commercial installations.

Current funding is $250,000. Subject to availability of funds, applicants on the wait list will be included in next year's program.
You may assign the RECs for the rebated portion of your system to Fort Collins Utilities with a Renewable Energy Certificate contract (PDF 164KB).
We expect to continue in 2013 but reserve the right to discontinue this program when the funding is depleted or at the end of the calendar year, whichever comes first.
Yes. Your system must be grid-tied, and you must be a Fort Collins Utilities electric customer.
Yes. You'll have to provide proof of an on-site and documented energy audit through the Home Efficiency Program or another approved RESNET/BPI auditor. This audit is not required to apply but will need to be scheduled after you are awarded a rebate.
Even with rebates and tax incentives, PV systems can take years to pay for themselves. Consult your solar contractor for a payback estimate.
Sometimes it is advantageous to assign your rebate to your installer and reduce the delivered price of the system, allowing you to better utilize the federal renewable energy tax credits. Consult your solar contractor and/or tax accountant.
Only new PV systems installed after January 30, 2012, are eligible.
Applications may be accepted for systems that don't completely conform to performance guidelines at a prorated rebate level in order to account for the reduced performance. Fort Collins Utilities reserves the right to exclude systems that are likely to perform substantially below the program guidelines.
