Fort Collins Utilities Project Closes Shields Street, Evenings of March 31-April 2

Posted on: Mar-28-2014

Infrastructure upgrades to the sanitary sewer and stormwater drainage systems will close Shields Street at Plum Street, 8 p.m.-6 a.m., March 31-April 2. Shields Street will reopen at 6 a.m., April 3.

Businesses will remain open during construction, although access to Plum Street is closed to all traffic, including pedestrians and bicycles. For safety reasons, everyone is reminded to observe detours and signage.

Following the evening closures, Shields Street will reopen one lane northbound and two southbound lanes during the day.

The upgrades will increase capacity of the water infrastructure, improving drainage and decreasing the risks for flooding in these areas.

Safety for residents, commuters, bike riders, pedestrians and work crews is a priority. Barricades and fences will be used to clearly mark areas of excavation that will be fenced off at night and on weekends. For your safety, please stay away from these areas and follow all signage instructions.
