Posted on: Dec-02-2013
FORT COLLINS, CO - The Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) recently awarded the Energy Efficiency Leadership Award to Fort Collins Utilities for its “highly effective energy efficiency programs that are exceeding energy savings goals.”

According to SWEEP, Fort Collins Utilities has helped customers save 7 percent of total electricity use through energy efficiency programs implemented during 2007-2012. Fort Collins is the leading municipal utility with respect to energy efficiency efforts in the six-state SWEEP region.

Fort Collins Utilities, in collaboration with Platte River Power Authority, implements a comprehensive set of programs to serve its residential, commercial and industrial customers. These programs provide technical assistance and rebates relating to nearly every facet of energy use, including retrofits and remodels, new construction, equipment replacement, consumer products and behavior change.

Xcel Energy also received the award from SWEEP, contributing to saving hundreds of millions of dollars through scaled-up efficiency programs for customers and cutting pollution emissions at the same time.

SWEEP is a public interest organization promoting greater energy efficiency in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Details at swenergy.org.
