EnvirOvation Showcase Recognizes Environmental Leadership by ClimateWise Business Partners

Join the City of Fort Collins’ EnvirOvation—A ClimateWise Showcase to celebrate environmental stewardship and recognize the commitments and green initiatives of more than 300 local businesses and organizations, Wed., April 17, 2-5 p.m., Hilton Fort Collins, 425 W. Prospect Rd.

Visit with local business and City program representatives, 2-3 p.m., at the Business Exhibitor Showcase, followed by the EnvirOvation ceremony, 3-5 p.m. Complimentary food and beverages provided. The City of Fort Collins Mayor Karen Weitkunat and City Manager Darin Atteberry invite citizens to discover how these organizations are transforming their operations and contributing to the community’s environmental and economic sustainability. The celebration will begin with a message from Jeff Ackermann, director for the Colorado Energy Office.

“ClimateWise partners have made impressive reductions in greenhouse gas emissions,†said Kathy Collier, program manager. “During 2012, they implemented more than 1,200 conservation projects, saved $14 million and exceeded the program’s reduction goals for the fourth time in five years.â€

“Partners saved 163,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year through transportation, energy and water savings measures and diverting waste from the landfill,†Collier said. “We have much to celebrate at this year’s EnvirOvation, and we invite the community to join us as we acknowledge and share the outstanding contributions of these businesses that have direct, positive impacts on Fort Collins.â€

ClimateWise is a voluntary program dedicated to assisting Fort Collins businesses and organizations to save money and decrease greenhouse gas emissions by promoting waste and transportation reduction, energy savings and water conservation. Partners benefit from public recognition, technical guidance and peer-to-peer networking for their commitment to sustainability.
