Small Business Efficiency Grants Available

Posted on: Feb-20-2013

In collaboration with Platte River Power Authority, Fort Collins Utilities now offers cash grants up to $5,000 to help small business customers implement energy and water efficiency projects. Grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available or until December 1, and can be combined with other Utilities’ rebates.

The grant is designed to reduce the amount a small business or non-profit pays for eligible energy and water efficiency projects, including:
• lighting
• cooling
• building tune-up
• refrigeration
• restrooms
• laundry
• other water and energy saving projects (e.g., dishwashers, sprinkler systems)

Businesses are required to have a free facility assessment provided by Utilities and meet the qualifying rate class, square footage requirements and/or have non-profit status. The project (or combination of qualifying projects) and grant must be pre-approved.

These programs are designed to help businesses achieve actual savings by using electricity and water more efficiently by retrofitting systems and/or equipment and lowering utility bills. Estimated payback times are typically less than two years.
