Sign Up Now - Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling Rebates

Posted on: Jan-29-2013

To help customers reduce waste and save energy and money, Fort Collins Utilities offers a $35 rebate to residents who recycle their older, inefficient refrigerator or freezer. Utilities will even arrange to have it picked up for free.

Upcoming pick-up dates are February 8 and 20; March 9 and 22; and April 3, 13 and 24. Call (970) 221-6700 to sign up.

Today’s units save 50 to 80 percent in energy costs when compared to older models, and approximately 98 percent of the appliances are comprehensively recycled—keeping the material out of the landfill.

Program guidelines:
• must be a Fort Collins Utilities electric customer
• must own the appliance being recycled (limit of two per account)
• appliance must be working (plugged in and cooling) and between 10 to 27 cubic feet
• customer will receive a one-time bill credit within four to six weeks after collection
