Fort Collins Mayor Karen Weitkunat and City of Fort Collins Chief Sustainability Officer Bruce Hendee invite citizens to discover how these organizations are transforming their operations and contributing to the community’s environmental and economic sustainability. The celebration will begin with a message from Senator Mark Udall.

“ClimateWise partners have made impressive reductions in greenhouse gas emissions,” said Kathy Collier, program manager. “During 2011, they implemented nearly 1,000 conservation projects, saved $12 million and exceeded the program’s reduction goals for the third time.”

“Partners saved 146,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year through transportation, energy and water savings measures and diverting waste from the landfill,” Collier said. “We have much to celebrate at this year’s EnvirOvation, and we hope the community will join us as we acknowledge and share the outstanding contributions of these businesses that have direct, positive impacts on Fort Collins.”

ClimateWise is a voluntary program dedicated to assisting Fort Collins businesses and organizations in decreasing greenhouse gas emissions by promoting waste and transportation reduction, energy savings and water conservation. Partners benefit from public recognition, technical guidance and peer-to-peer networking for their commitment to sustainability.
