Sports

Our youth and adult sports programs benefit thousands of community members per year. A wide variety of opportunities for all ages are available through Recreation's Sports programs. Adults can get active and stay healthy by participating in sports like softball, volleyball, basketball and flag football. Kids can benefit from exercise and learn important social values by participating in sports such as basketball, football, wrestling, cross country, volleyball, and track. Our diverse offerings, dedicated staff and excellent content make sports a valuable community resource.

Cost: $60

Spring Break Basketball Skills Camp

Date: Monday-Wednesday, Mar. 13-15 (5-6:30 p.m.)
Grade: Kindergarten-8
Location: Northside Aztlan Center

Camp includes basketball fundamentals with an emphasis on shooting, footwork, defensive positioning, and ball handling. Campers will recieve a camp shirt and their own basketball.

6th-8th Grade Volleyball

Spotlight image: 6th-8th Grade Volleyball

Date: Mar. 20-Apr. 29
Location: Foothills Activity Center

Team play where participation, fun, skills and sportmanship are stressed; winning is secondary. Practices held one or two time per week. Matches are Saturday mornings and occasionally some week nights. Practice days/times vary; you will hear from the coach by 3/13. Registration deadlines is Mar. 3. Begins the week of Mar. 20; 6 weeks. Includes school t-shirt; given out at practice.

Softball Coed Tee Ball

Date: June 5-July 15
Age: 5-6

Designed to develop skills, sportsmanship, and coordination. Teams practice is 30 minutes before each game, once per week. Based on 2016-2017 current school year grade level. Registration deadline is May 19. Team shirt included

Softball

Spring Softball
Dates:

Register for competitive or recreational: men's leagues here, women's leagues here, or Coed leagues here.

Dust off the rust before the summer leagues begin. Registration begins Feb. 2, ends Mar. 10 or when leagues fill. Leagues begin the week of 3/19; 6 games scheduled. Rosters are unlimted. Ages 16-17 years need parent signature on roster prior to participation.

Summer Adult  Softball

Register for competitive or recreational: men's leagues here, men's fast pitch here, women's leagues here, or Coed leagues here.

Games are played at Fossil Creek, Lee Martinez, and Rolland Moore Parks. Registration begins Feb. 2, ends Apr. 21 or when leagues fill. Classes will not be held on May 26 and 28-30, June 29 and 30, and Jul. 2-5

Showdown Sofball Tournament

Registration begins May 2, ends May 26 or when divisions fill; 2 games guarenteed. Games are played at Rolland Moore Park and other community parks if needed

Lacrosse

Date: Monday-Friday, July 17-21 (9 a.m.-Noon)
Location: Cottonwood Glen Park
Age: 6-12

Learn the fundamentals of stick handling, cradling, passing, and shooting in a fun, non-checking enviroment. Campers also learn to respect, teamwork, and discipline. Skyhawks ensures athletes gain a deep understanding of the game and its traditions.
