Carpooling - Purpose: To relieve congestion and air pollution while helping commuters share the driving responsibilities.

• Fill up with gas before you pick-up your riders in the morning- be prompt.
• Don’t feel as though you have to carry on a conversation- some people prefer quiet.
• Set up a route and a time schedule, and stick to it.
• Start early in inclement weather.
• Don’t honk your horn for your passengers. Wait out front where they can see you.
• Keep the car in good mechanical condition.
• Important - Drive carefully: Do not speed, or drink and drive. Your riders lives are in your hands.
• If you lose a carpool member, call the SmartTrips office for additional prospective riders/drivers
