Welcome to the Fall 2013 Boards & Commissions Newsletter!

Annual recruitment has begun.  If you know someone that would be a good fit, please encourage him/her to apply for a board or commission.


Message from the Mayor

kweitkunat-2011-1.pngWe know it’s the end of summer as the kids head back to school. The streets around CSU become busier, and the fall flowers and foliage take on the final burst of color.

Hopefully, all of you had a chance to enjoy the magnificent community events that marked the summer calendar – the beautiful music of the Fort Collins Symphony at City Park on the Fourth of July,  the fun celebration of New West Fest with over 70 arts and entertainment venues, and the exciting, energetic  US Pro Challenge that filled our community with thousands of bicycling enthusiasts.

Our wonderful community events and celebrations cannot happen without the involvement of our residents and the many members of our City’s Boards and Commissions who volunteer countless hours and support the varied community activities.  Thank you for your many contributions.

As fall approaches, the community takes on a new sense of “busy-ness” as we prepare for year-end finales and the start of next year’s work.  We appreciate your participation in creating and maintaining a vibrant, healthy and fun community.

City Council is seeking applicants to fill vacancies on 24 boards and commissions. Boardmembers advise Council on issues related to housing, the environment, transportation, planning and development, human resources, utilities, and cultural and recreational services. 

Applicants may apply to two boards; however, a separate application must be submitted for each board. If appointed, applicants will only be appointed to one board or commission.

Eligibility requirements: 1) one year residency within the Fort Collins Growth Management Area, and 2) be a registered voter (applies to 18 and older).

Apply online at www.fcgov.com/boards.  Applications are being accepted through September 27.

2013 Boards and Commissions Annual Appreciation Event:

The boards and commissions Annual Appreciation Event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6.  Invitations will be sent out in the next month with more information.  Be sure to add this event to  your calendar!

  • Submit minutes in a timely manner to keep information updated
  • Monitor the 6 Month Planning Calendar to stay in connected to Council topics
  • Complete member training online and submit the compliance form
  • 2014 Work Plan due November 30, 2013 
  • 2013 Annual Report due January 31, 2014
