Transportation
Stoplight
A modern traffic signal system has greatly improved traffic flow on Fort Collins' major roadways
  • Traffic Management System
Work continued on the implementation of the Advanced Traffic Management System. This multi-year, multi-million dollar project involves the replacement of the existing outdated traffic control system with a modern one that improves traffic flow. New timing plans are being developed which will result in less congestion on many of our major roadways.
  • West Elizabeth Street road improvements
The City made significant improvements to West Elizabeth Street to accommodate all modes of transportation and provide a safer environment for the many Colorado State University students who regularly use the street as access to and from the University. Medians were installed and improvements were made to the bike lanes, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings.
  • North College Avenue improvements
One of the most impressive and large-scale projects of 2004 was the North College Avenue Improvements Projects, supported by revenues from a voter-approved tax initiative. The City repaved portions of Jefferson/Riverside and College Avenue; installed sidewalks, bike lanes and lighting for streets and pedestrians; and upgraded the storm drainage system. This project allows the downtown to grow north, increases mobility through that section and supports all modes of transportation.
