General Information

Corrugated cardboard is accepted in curbside recycling or at the specified locations. With the 2013 Cardboard Ordinance it is illegal to throw cardboard in the trash in Fort Collins.

This excludes Waxed cardboard, which is used to ship bulk produce, and food-contaminated cardboard, such as heavily soiled/greasy pizza boxes, from the ordinance. These materials are not considered recyclable cardboard and should be composted or landfilled.

Note: Pizza boxes that are not significantly soiled should be recycled.

Boxes in good shape are usually accepted as donations at many local pack and ship businesses.
