Frequently Asked QuestionsWHAT IS THE SUMMIT AWARD presented by Comcast The City of Fort Collins Recreation Department and Comcast present the Summit Awards, a community award that recognizes City of Fort Collins youth sports participants and coaches who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and respect. The Summit Awards presented by Comcast will honor one team per season per grade. A Summit Award will also be presented to a team of the year, coach of the year and athlete of the year. The Summit Award was developed to reinforce the Recreation Department’s goals of teaching positive values and providing beneficial life lessons to participants. The award honors three core values - sportsmanship, teamwork and respect -three values that the Recreation Department and Comcast feel are key attributes to success in athletics and in life. WHO CAN RECEIVE A SUMMIT AWARD? All City of Fort Collins Youth Sports teams are eligible for the seasonal (summer, fall, winter, spring) Summit Award honor. Any athlete, coach or team that has participated and is in good standing with the City of Fort Collins Recreation Department within the 2008 calendar year can be awarded an annual Summit Award. HOW WILL HONOREES BE SELECTED? Seasonal team honorees will be selected by officials and Recreation Department staff. Annual team, coach and athlete honorees can be nominated by any community member. Summit Award honorees will be presented the award personally by the City’s Sports Department.
