This news was released 283 days ago and may contain inaccurate information.

On July 24 at about 10:40 a.m., Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a car versus bicycle collision in the intersection of Shields Street and Mountain Avenue.

A 2001 Suzuki Vitara was traveling north on Shields Street and failed to stop for a red light at Mountain Avenue.  The front of the Suzuki collided with a bicyclist that was riding east on Mountain Avenue in the bicycle lane.

The bicyclist, Jacob Gross, 31, of Fort Collins, was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment of serious injuries.  He was wearing a helmet.  The driver of the Suzuki, Anne Cox, 17, of Golden, was not injured.

The intersection of Shields Street and Mountain Avenue was partially closed for approximately 4 hours while investigators processed the scene.  Police do not believe excessive speed or alcohol was involved.  The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
