Police Investigate Motorcycle Collision

On September 20 at about 4:41 p.m., Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a car versus motorcycle collision at the intersection of Harmony Rd. and Boardwalk Dr.
A 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on Harmony Rd. in the left through lane approaching the intersection with Boardwalk Dr. At the same time, a 1999 Honda sedan was traveling west on Harmony Rd. in the left turn lane preparing to turn south onto Boardwalk Dr. When the traffic light turned yellow, both vehicles entered the intersection. The front of the motorcycle collided with the right front corner of the Honda, ejecting the motorcycle operator.
The motorcycle operator, Jeffrey Ward, 43, of Fort Collins, was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment of serious injuries. He was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the Honda, Frank Witham, 41, of Fort Collins, and his passenger, Janelle Delgado, 43, of Fort Collins, were not injured.
The intersection of Harmony Rd. and Boardwalk Dr. was closed for approximately 4 hours while investigators processed the scene. Police believe alcohol and speed may have contributed to the collision. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
