On June 25 at about 7:12 p.m., Fort Collins police was notified of a motorcycle collision near the intersection of Shields Street and Truxtun Drive.

A Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on Shields Street. As the motorcyclist approached the intersection with Truxtun Drive, a Schwan’s delivery truck made a left turn from eastbound Truxtun Drive onto northbound Shields Street in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle skidded for several feet before falling to the ground. The motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle and both the motorcycle and motorcyclist slid to a stop without colliding with the Schwan’s truck.

The motorcyclist, Jeffrey Boulton, 45, of Fort Collins, was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies with serious injuries. He was not wearing a helmet. The driver of the Schwan’s truck, Michael Mann, 43, of Greeley, was not injured.

Southbound Shields Street was closed between Trilby Road and Truxtun Drive for approximately 5 hours while police processed the scene. Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision to determine if alcohol or speed were involved.

Anyone with information about the incident, who had not already given a statement to police, is asked to call Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-221-6555.
