Lincoln Center Addition and Renovation:

Lincoln Center
  • Begin project June, 2010
  • Estimated completion April, 2011
  • $6,000,000 Project

Highlights:

  • Creating a new exterior design image for the Lincoln Center with more clearly defined and identifiable entrances.
  • Enlarging and enhancing the lobbies, corridors and other public gathering areas, creating a fresh, new interior design with improved acoustics, lighting and way-finding signage and graphics.
  • Redesigning the sculpture garden, reorganizing the space to be more open and inviting from the street, improving access to the Lincoln Center’s primary entrances, and creating an exterior space that allows flexibility of use and enhances the design image of the Lincoln Center.
  • Redesigning the Mini-Theater, with a reconfigured seating layout for improved sight lines, improved patron comfort and better circulation through the theater.
  • Redesigning the Canyon West and Columbine Rooms and adding badly needed storage and user amenities to help reposition these important revenue spaces for increased use.
  • Major acoustic improvements to the Performance Hall.
  • Installation of and additional elevator.

South Transit Center:

South Transit Center

The South Transit Center is a transportation hub located at the south terminus of the Mason Corridor, a 5.5 mile multi-modal transportation corridor running north-south along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad through the heart of Fort Collins. Improvements will include a new 4,200 sq. ft. building, 10 bus bays for Bus Rapid Transit and Transfort fixed-route buses, covered passenger waiting areas, a 170-space park-and-ride facility, as well as bike and pedestrian trail connections.

Highlights:

  • Housed on a 4.2 acre parcel, west of College Avenue and south of Harmony Road.
  • Existing bike trail connects to facility.
  • 1200 sq. ft. entry vestibule and lobby that contain public restrooms, a ticketing and customer service counter, passenger waiting areas and a small coffee shop.
  • Sustainable Design features incorporated into the project include:
    • In-floor radiant heat throughout the facility, using a high-efficiency boiler.
    • Evaporative cooling.
    • Permeable concrete pavers used for hardscape on the passenger loading platforms to reduce stormwater runoff and improve water quality.
    • Water conservation optimized by use of dual-flush toilets and low-flow faucets, urinals and shower heads.
    • Energy conservation maximized by highly efficient mechanical equipment specifications, performance and controls, and highly efficient lighting fixtures with automatic daylight and occupancy sensor controls.
    • Extensive daylighting and views to the outdoors throughout the facility.
    • Enhanced indoor air quality through the use of low-VOC materials, furnishings and casework, high-efficiency filters and carbon dioxide occupancy sensors.
    • Bicycle racks in excess of local requirements provided with the majority of the spaces being provided with cover.
    • Maximized use of recycled materials.

Discovery Science Museum:

Discovery Center

The Museum combines in partnership the Fort Collins Museum and the Discovery Science Center. This allows the Museum to feature science and history, hands-on fun and life-long learning, windows into the past and views toward the future. The building will be 43,100 sq. ft. and will have over 21,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space including two classrooms. The Museum will feature a digital dome that will provide an immersive, large-format 360 degrees theater using digital video and audio technology and will provide interactive educational shows, planetarium-style experiences and movies that explore a wide range of science, history and cultural subjects

Highlights:

  • Constructed on an 11.24 acre site located at the east end of Lee Martinez Park, near the intersection of College Avenue and Cherry Street at 408 Mason Court.
  • Easy access to bike/walking trail as well as to the Poudre River.
  • The gallery area features exhibits with themes in Natural Areas, Early Childhood, Music and Sound, Science, Wildlands and Wildlife, Live Animals, First Peoples, Sustainability and Energy, Water, People on the Move and Food, Forage and Farm. Exterior exhibits will feature elements, such as the Wild Zone and Natural Areas.
  • The facility will be an instrument for teaching stewardship and sustainability. We have a goal to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification at the Gold level and may attain Platinum.
  • Includes Art-in-Pubic-Places features which will have a focus on water, as well as other significant topics of interest.
