Project Impact - Monthly Update
February 15, 2000 to March 15, 2000

  • Real Time Flood Inundation Mapping
We are interviewing vendors this week who will provide consulting on the final stages of the RTFIM project.

  • OEM Website
We have added Fort Collins' hazard analysis to the Project Impact portion of the website, along with our regular updates.

  • Horsetooth Reservoir
Remediation and modernization of the four 50-year old dams containing Horsetooth Reservoir began this month. The project will cost as much as $100 million and will take 3 to 5 years. OEM will be participating in dam safety exercises with the Bureau of Reclamation and other agencies.

  • Notification Education Video
Work continues on the flood notification video with the Channel 27 Cable Program Director. Scripting is complete and filming will begin in the next few weeks.

  • Floodplain Issues
Talks continue between the citizens of Fort Collins, City Council and City officials over changing the standards for building in the floodplain. One option Council is considering is the proposal to prohibit activity within the 100-year floodplain that can cause the floodway to increase in height by more than a tenth of a foot.
