Project Impact - Monthly Update
December 15, 1999 - January 15, 2000

  • Real Time Flood Inundation Mapping
Work continues on this project. We are in the process of writing a request for proposal for the next portion of the project. We are anticipating that the request will be published on the City of Fort Collins Purchasing Department website very soon.

  • OEM Website
Although December 31st turned out to be uneventful, we did have success with our Y2K real time activity log on our website. We logged over 1000 visitors between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.

  • 530 AM Local Emergency Radio
We had the opportunity to use our new local emergency radio station for continuous community briefing during the Y2K event. The project was a success and we were able to change the message and update the broadcast regularly without experiencing any problems.

  • Emergency Auto-Dialing System
This project is completed for the most part. We had the system in place and ready for Y2K, but did not need to use it.

  • Notification Education Promotion
The promotion campaign designed to inform the community about our new emergency notification methods continues. We are still in the process of getting the notification road signs in place. We have received our refrigerator magnets and distribution has begun in the community. The notification brochure is yet to be completed.

  • Wetlands Annexation
The Fort Collins City Council has just approved the annexation of 90 acres of Fossil Creek open space for the purpose of protecting the wetlands floodplain from encroaching growth and reserving the open space for public enjoyment. There are six similar open space proposals, totaling 873 acres, under consideration for annexation during 2000.
