Out is In: July is Park & Recreation Month
Fort Collins, CO –The National Recreation and Park Association and the City of Fort Collins Recreation Department are recognizing the month of July as the nation’s official Park and Recreation Month. This year’s theme: Out is In. The goal is to motivate everyone to go OUTside, change their OUTlook, and get INvolved in their community through their local parks and recreation departments.
The City of Fort Collins Recreation Department wants to get you OUT and INvolved! The first event to start out the month is on July 1 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 300 Laporte, when Fort Collins City Council will sign a proclamation attesting that July is officially Park and Recreation Month in the City of Fort Collins. Everyone is welcome! In addition to the proclamation, Recreation is giving you another 30 reasons to help prove OUT is IN. A full calendar is available online at fcgov.com/outisin

All American Picnic, 07/03/2014, 6:00 p.m., Senior Center
The All American Picnic starts with an Apple Pie Contest and barbeque at 6:00 p.m., with serving till 7:00 p.m. Kenny Cordova and the Old Time Rock and Roll Band will shake, rattle and roll with great music to get you moving. The cost for adults $15, youth (7–17 years) $8, and under 7 years old are free.
4th of July Parade and Celebration, 07/04/2014, 10:00 a.m., City Park
The City of Fort Collins 4th of July Parade and Celebration presented by Blue Ocean Enterprises and the Richardson Foundation will kick off with a parade at City Park and continue throughout the day with a golf tournament, the Annual Old Timer’s Game, live music (three acts!) and a fireworks show! Senior Center Expansion Grand Opening, 07/10/2014 – 07/12/2014, 4:00 p.m., Senior Center
Join the City of Fort Collins on July 10th - 12th as they celebrate the grand opening of the expanded Senior Center at 1200 Raintree Drive. The new building will feature new cardio/weight room, wellness center, a social gathering area, two new fitness/dance rooms, additional parking and more!
Visiting Artist Demonstration: TS Berger, 07/26/2014, 1:00 p.m., Pottery Studio
In these demonstrations the visiting artist, TS Berger, will demonstrate how work is created and discuss such things as aesthetics, inspirations and technical ceramic concepts. TS Berger will talk about the clays used and decorating and glazing techniques. Demonstrations are open to all levels, and entry price is $15 at the door.
Cool Off and Go Ice Skating! 07/23/2014, All Day, Edora Park Ice Center
Visit Edora Park Ice Center (EPIC) for a day of ½ off skating! Adults $2.25, Youth $1.75, 60+ $2.00, and skate rental is available for $2.50 per pair.
