City of Fort Collins Fourth of July Community Celebration

The City of Fort Collins Fourth of July Community Celebration presented by Blue Ocean Enterprises and the Richardson Foundation is an day full of patriotism and activity in City Park and Old Town. 2014 is the year to get out and see what Fort Collins is about!

The community event will get you moving in the morning with the FireKracker 5K benefiting the Fort Collins Running Club at 7:30 AM. The 3rd annual Fourth of July Parade will begin at 10:00 AM and travel east on Mountain Avenue from Jackson Avenue to Meldrum Street. The Parade is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the military fort moving to Fort Collins from Laporte. See reenactment soldiers in uniforms dating back 150 years to today, vintage military vehicles, patriotic floats and more! The day continues with a golf tournament at City Park Nine Golf Course, the Old Timer’s Softball Game, a splash at City Park Pool, 1599 City Park Drive, (admission for only $3 on July 4th) and the Fort Collins Foxes vs. Loveland Blue Jays baseball game at 1:00 PM. Also, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Poudre Landmarks Foundation will host an Old-Fashioned Fourth of July at the Avery House, 108 N. Meldrum Street. After a full day of activity, live music will play from 4:15 to 9:30 PM in City Park, with the musical acts of Colorado Swing Big Band, Manabi Salsa Band and the Fort Collins Symphony. The evening ends with the longstanding tradition of spectacular Fourth of July fireworks over Sheldon Lake in City Park, 1500 W. Mulberry Street, at 9:35 PM or dusk. Transfort will be providing free shuttle service on the Fourth of July to City Park. Free Transfort shuttle service will be available to City Park from the Downtown Transit Center (DTC) and the CSU Towers parking lot. Shuttles begin at 5:30 PM going to City Park. The last departure leaving to City Park will be at 9:10 PM. MAX will also be in operation from 5:00 PM to midnight on the 4th of July. MAX Service will begin from the South Transit Center at 5:00 PM and the last bus will depart the Downtown Transit Center at 11:50 PM. Use the MAX and a free shuttle to get to City Park! Alcohol, fireworks and pets are not permitted on the shuttles or in City Park. Parking will not be permitted at City Park Pool or City Park Nine Golf Course. Parking around City Park's perimeter will be limited.

In the case of a weather event, the fireworks display may be delayed until 10:00 p.m. If the weather has not cleared by 10:00 p.m., the display will be postponed to July 5 at dusk. Weather that may delay the fireworks would include severe weather, moderate to heavy rain and/or wind gusts of more than 8 mph. The decision to delay will ultimately be made by Poudre Fire Authority.

FireKracker 5K: 7:30 AM
At 7:30 AM the annual running of the Fort Collins Running Club's FireKracker 5K, features a brand new fast and flat 5k course, a citizen’s 5k run/walk, and elite/competitive 5k race and a FREE kids race. For more information visit fortcollinsrunningclub.org.firekracker-5k.

Golf Tournament: 8:00 AM
At 8:00 AM a shotgun start, two-person better ball tournament will begin at City Park Nine. Call 970.221.6650 for details.

Annual Old Timer's Game: 9:30 AM
City Park North Ball field beginning at 9:30 AM. Enjoy a blast from the past watching these men relive their great memories enjoying the sport that they love.

July 4th Parade: 10:00 AM
Join us for this special parade beginning at 9:30 AM at the Avery House. The parade will honor the 150th anniversary of the military fort moving to Fort Collins. Visit fcgov.com/july4th for details.

City Park Pool: 10:00 AM
Take a dip in the pool (1599 City Park Drive) for $3 per person, any age! Open until 5:30 PM.

Old-Fashioned Fourth of July, Avery House: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Join Poudre Landmarks Foundation as they celebrate July 4th in an old-fashioned way!

Fort Collins Foxes vs. Loveland Blue Jays: 1:00 PM
1:00 PM on City Park South Ball field. Cheer on the Fort Collins Foxes of the Mountain Collegiate Baseball League. $6/adult; $4/children (5-14); $4/seniors (over 65); Children under 6 and active military with ID are admitted for FREE.

Live Music: beginning at 4:15 PM until the fireworks begin
Live music and good ole American fun will be in City Park on the south side of the hill and at the corner of Sheldon and Mulberry from 4:15 PM until the fireworks display. Enjoy sounds from the Colorado Swing Big Band, Manabi Salsa Band and the Fort Collins Symphony.

Fireworks at City Park: Dusk (Estimated time 9:35 PM)
Fireworks begin at dusk (estimated time 9:35 PM) and are shot over Sheldon Lake. Cap off July 4th with a spectacular fireworks show presented by Blue Ocean Enterprises and the Richardson Foundation. Free admission and open to the public. Free Transfort shuttle service will be available to and from the fireworks display from the Downtown Transit Center and CSU Towers Parking Lot to City Park. Shuttle rides begin at 5:30 PM and the last shuttle leaves to City Park at 9:10 PM.
