On June 19 at 3:01 p.m., Fort Collins Police Services responded to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of W. Swallow Rd. and Cumberland Ct. A 2002 silver Volkswagen Euro Van was traveling westbound on W. Swallow Rd. when it traveled off the road through a street light pole onto Cumberland Ct. and into the front yard of 3030 Cumberland Ct. where it struck a tree.
The vehicle had four occupants, two which were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants were transported to Poudre Valley Hospital where one was treated for minor injuries and released. Another was treated for serious bodily injuries and was held for further medical attention. All parties were wearing seat belts.
The collision is being investigated by Fort Collins Police Services. Drugs or alcohol were not factors in this collision, however, the investigation is currently focused towards either the possibility of a medical condition or fatigue. The intersection of W. Swallow Rd. and Cumberland Ct. was closed for approximately 6 hours.
The Larimer County Coroner Office will release the names of the deceased and the individual cause of death.
