FORT COLLINS, CO – The Poudre River Trail west of Shields Street has been reopened. This section of the trail was closed due to construction on the West Vine Outfall Project.
The public is encouraged to follow all current trail closure signage and safety guidelines when using the Poudre River Trail due to flooding risks. City of Fort Collins Parks staff will post warnings and detours in areas of concern but individuals need to be aware and prepared to use alternate routes in case of flooding. Updates on current trail closures are available at http://www.fcgov.com/parks/trail-status2.php
A new channel that joins the Poudre River is complete and a new pedestrian bridge was built over the channel. Wildlands Restoration Volunteers conducted a volunteer project on May 16 to help re-vegetate the area. The public is encouraged to stay on the trail while vegetation is established. The remainder of the West Vine Outfall Project is planned to be completed by the end of summer.
