Update 2: Police Investigate Injury Collision

On November 15, the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ryan Kramer, was issued a municipal summons for failing to yield the right-of-way when proceeding from a stop sign.

 No further information will be released at this time.

 UPDATE #1 – Police Investigate Injury Collision

Date:      September 30, 2013    

On September 30 at 11:17am, Nicholas Wilkin died at Medical Center of the Rockies due to injuries he sustained during the collision.  The cause and manner of death will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.  No further information will be released at this time.

Police Investigate Injury Collision

 On September 28 at about 5:07pm, Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a SUV versus scooter injury collision at the intersection of Tulane Drive and Del Clair Road.

 A 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling west on Del Clair Road and stopped for a stop sign at Tulane Drive.  A Vespa scooter was traveling north on Tulane Drive and did not have a stop sign.  The Jeep proceeded from the stop sign and the front of the vehicle collided with the right side of the scooter. 

 The operator of the scooter, Nicholas Wilkin, 30, of Fort Collins, was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment of serious injuries.  He was not wearing a helmet.  The driver of the Jeep, Ryan Kramer, 20, of Fort Collins, was not injured.

 The intersection of Tulane Drive and Del Clair Road was closed for approximately 4 hours while investigators processed the scene.  Police do not believe alcohol, speed or distraction contributed to the collision.  The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
