The City of Fort Collins Recreation Department will offer USA Pro Challenge related programming during the race’s Stage 6 visit to Northern Colorado on August 24. The Recreation Department’s Youth program and Adaptive Recreation Opportunities (ARO) program will feature activities and opportunities for bicycle enthusiast throughout the area.
FoCo Kids Bike Challenge
Recreation's FoCo Kids Bike Challenge program will be hosting a kid’s race at the start of the USA Pro Challenge’s Stage 6 on August 24 at The Ranch in Loveland. Registration and check-in for the race will being at 9:00 AM and races will start at 9:30 AM. All races are free to youth under 18 years of age. Participants can register for the FoCo Kids Bike Challenge online at fcgov.com/recreator
using the activity number 315982-01. Registration will also be available the day of at The Ranch. Race winners will be recognized from the finisher's podium in Fort Collins later in the day. For more information call 970.221.6655.
Adaptive Recreation Opportunities
Also on August 24, Recreation’s Adaptive Recreation Opportunities program will be hosting a Paralympic club cycling ride using top of the line adaptive cycling equipment from Adaptive Adventures. The route will start at Lee Martinez Park, 600 North Sherwood Street, for an “out and back” ride down the Poudre Trail. The ride will include a 4 mile or 10 mile option. The registration fee for the ride is $5 per participant and open to cyclist 8 years of age and older. Recumbent bikes, hand cycles, youth equipment, and tandems will all be used during this ride. ARO is planning the ride for individuals with varying physical and visual impairments. The ride will begin at 9:30 AM and complete around noon. ARO will also be hosting an informational booth at the Finish Festival in downtown Fort Collins. The Finish Festival begins at Noon and ends at 6:00 PM.
