Residents of Fort Collins invited to attend FREE Residential Environmental Program Series
5 March 2013 -- (Fort Collins, CO) Opportunities to develop relationships with the people around you are countless. Every time you reach out to a neighbor, strike up a conversation at a local coffee shop, or attend a community event, you’re playing a unique role in a diverse community.
Join the City of Fort Collins for Community Capacity Building on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from 7 – 8:30 pm, at the Mid-Town Arts Center, 3750 S. Mason St. This seminar will offer citizens ways to move to the next level of relationship development by working collaboratively to develop and implement informed choices that accomplish shared goals and improve our community vision.
The free seminar will cover a multitude of ways to become more involved in Fort Collins. Local sustainability groups Transition Fort Collins and Be Local will be on hand to talk about the importance of strong local culture and economy in creating a resilient community. Two local organic farmer representatives from The Shire and On the Vine will also be present to share their approach to bringing local, fresh, and organic food from their farm to your fork. Representatives from the City and other local businesses will also be available to discuss how to move Fort Collins forward.
This event will also be the kick-off point for a “Community Capacity Building Challenge” that encourages citizens to take action on what they have just learned.
Speaker presentations will be followed by an informal networking and brainstorming session open to members of the public on existing and future projects and how you can be part of it. Got kids? No problem; bring your family along to participate in this inclusive event. Light refreshments and a cash bar will be available.
