Fort Collins Utilities and Platte River Power Authority are partnering with local retailers to offer discounts on ENERGY STAR qualified light-emitting diode (LED) and compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs as well as Lutron dimmers and occupancy sensors.

LED and CFL bulbs offer long life, big energy savings, great performance and a variety of styles. Dimmers and occupancy sensors help decrease energy use and extend bulb life. Save $10-20 on qualifying LED bulbs; $10 on dimmers and occupancy sensors; and discounts of $2-5 on specialty CFL bulbs, including bath bar replacement bulbs and 3-way applications.

New technologies are being developed to make LED bulbs an efficient lighting choice. The U.S. Department of Energy recently conducted its L Prize competition to encourage manufacturers to develop an even more efficient LED replacement for the 60-watt incandescent bulb.
