MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew Champions to Visit Northside Aztlan Community Center
Free Hip Hop Workshop features I aM Me, BreakEFX, Hype 50
Thursday, April 12, 2012 (Fort Collins, CO) MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew (ABDC) alumni I aM mE, BreakEFX, and Hype 50 will be the featured guests of the Crewz Control Hip Hop Workshop at Northside Aztlan Community Center (NACC) on Thursday, April 19th at 6:00 p.m. This free event is open to elementary, middle school and high school students and will host hip hop and break dance instruction by the crew members.
Participants will be grouped by age and then will rotate through 20 minute workshops that will focus on different styles of hip hop and breakdance, including freezes, floorwork, and modern. The Colorado Eagles Chicks and the Colorado Ice Icicles dance teams and the Colorado School of Dance will also teach segments of the workshop. Youth will then have the opportunity to do a meet and greet with the members of I aM mE.
The Crewz Control Hip Hop Workshop is a prelude to Crewz Control, a night of hip hop and breakdance performances, presented by Colorado State University’s ASAP and ASCSU, on Friday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Center. The dance crew, “Comeback” who won the 2012 Down For Life Hip Hop Expo crew to crew competition at NACC, will be the opening performance at Crewz Control. Following Comeback, will be I aM mE, Hype 50, Kaba Modern Legacy, BreakEFX -all competitors on ABDC- and Motion Underground, The Hype 303, and Colorado School of Dance.
Tickets to Crewz Control are available now at NACC can also be purchased at the Hip Hop Workshop. NACC is located at 112 E. Willow St.
The Crewz Control Hip Hop Workshop has been made possible by CSU’s ASAP and ASCSU, North Fort Collins Business Association and City of Fort Collins Recreation.
