APRIL 17-21 OFFERS THE BEST WEEK OF FUN ON TWO WHEELS FOR EVERY AGE

Each year, you vow to live smarter, get healthier, embrace reduce and reuse, and enjoy the journey more. What better way to feel the sun on your face and the wind in your hair than riding a bike? To make it easy, we've set up a whole week of bicycling events to help you roll into spring at any age. Still not reaching for your trusty, two-wheeled steed? How about some help, right in your neighborhood with pesky flats, popped chains and safety? Now there's nothing in your way.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Education Coalition (BPEC) and City of Fort Collins have teamed together, along with other community partners, to offer you a week of fun, bicycle events and introduce the Bicycle Ambassador Program. Bicycle Ambassadors are trained and equipped volunteers cruising your streets and trails offering education, assistance and friendly advice about the rules of the road. Join us at any or all the events and get to know your new Bicycle Ambassadors or become one yourself. For complete event details and more, visit www.bicycleambassadorprogram.org. Highlights for the week include:

Lunch & Learn: Enjoy your Bike, Wheel to Wheel on Tuesday, April 17 from 11:15 AM-1 PM at the Lyric Cinema Cafe. Local expert Sylvia Cranmer shares how to make your workplace more bike friendly and how it can boost morale. Snacks provided by the Food Co-op. Free and open to the public but space is limited. RSVP

Bicycle Plaid Mob on Tuesday, April 17 at 5:30 PM, meet at the fountain in Old Town Square. Cyclists show up with at least $10 cash and mob a pre-identified local business with purchases. (Business identified on April 10 at www.belocalnc.org.) Afterwards, stay for refreshments. Plaid mob stamps will get you a discounted beverage.

Two-Wheelin’ Wednesday, a CSU Tour de Campus on April 18. Meet at 6 PM at the Oval and parade your bike through campus, ending at the Rec Center for a bike-in movie, "Dumb and Dumber." Movie starts at 7:30 PM. Snacks and refreshments provided. Feel free to bring blankets, lawn chairs and your reusable water bottle.

Tubes, Tools and Training Thursday on April 19 from 5:30-7:30 PM at 222 Laporte Avenue. Enjoy an open bike garage, music, refreshments and giveaways. Meet your friendly neighborhood bike mechanics.

Safe Routes to School’s Kids Weekend Bike Rodeo on Saturday, April 21 from Noon-3 PM at 222 Laporte Avenue. Calling all cowboys and cowgirls to master the bicycle rodeo course, get private lessons, have a mechanic check your ride, and get your Strap & Snap helmet checked. Bring your bike or borrow one from the Bike Library. Lots of cowboy chow and giveaways. Plus decorate your bike, helmet, or create your own art out of used bike parts at our art corral.

Belle Starrs' 2nd Annual Spring Fling on Saturday, April 21 at 7 PM at Cranknstein at 215 North College Avenue (for the over-21 crowd). Get your bike boogie on! It's been a great week. You’ve worn some tread off your tires; now do the same to your dancing shoes. Featuring music by The Haunted Windchimes and The Last Riot! A $5 donation at the door is suggested.
