image for press release Fort Collins Lawn Mower Rebate Program Springs into Action 29 March 2012 -- (Fort Collins, CO) – Fort Collins residents now have the opportunity to “green” their lawn care, save money, and help to reduce ozone pollution with the help of the 2012 Fort Collins Lawn Mower Rebate Program that launches Saturday, March 31, 2012. It will end when funding is depleted or on May 31, 2012, whichever comes first. In order to receive the rebate, all rebate forms must be received by June 5. No exceptions, please.

Residents will be able to obtain a $25 lawn mower rebate with the purchase of an electric or reel mower from the following participating Fort Collins retailers:
• Bath Power Equipment, 1505 S. Timberline (plus $25 store coupon); old mowers can be recycled here;
484-5024
• Clay’s Ace Hardware, 1001 E. Harmony (plus $25 store coupon); 223-9273
• Downtown Ace Hardware, 215 S. College (plus $25 store coupon); 224-4437
• Home Depot, 4502 JFK Parkway; 206-0774
• Home Depot, 1251 East Magnolia; 224-1239
• Lowe’s, 4227 Corbett Drive; 232-7910
• Sears, 205 E. Foothills Parkway; 229-1200

Fort Collins residents who purchase a clean reel or electric mower from a participating retailer may also recycle their old gasoline mowers at Colorado Iron and Metal (1400 E. Mulberry St; 482-7707), or Bath Power Equipment (1505 S. Timberline; 484-5024), to receive an additional $25 rebate.

Citizens of Fort Collins are also eligible to obtain a $25 rebate from the City for signing up for a full season’s worth of clean lawn mowing service from one of two Fort Collins’ companies: EnviroFriendly Lawn Care (590-2235); or Clean Air Lawn Care (224-4885). Please contact these companies directly.

By investing in an electric or reel mower, individuals can help reduce volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other air pollution that contributes to ground level ozone. They are also quieter, require minimal maintenance and are generally better for air quality than gas mowers.

In 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011, ozone levels in Fort Collins exceeded the federal ozone health standard for ozone. Fort Collins is part of the Front Range region that is in violation of that national health standard. High ozone levels can harm health and are associated with summertime smog and impaired mountain views.

Rebates are given on a first-come, first-served basis to City of Fort Collins residents. Rebate forms received after June 5, 2012, will not be honored. For complete information, visit fcgov.com/airquality. Questions can be submitted to Lucinda Smith, .
