image for press release Photography by Local Wildlife Photographs of local wildlife taken by self-triggering cameras at Bobcat Ridge Natural Area will take center stage at a public presentation Wednesday, April 11, 7-9 p.m. at the Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive.
Since 2009, remote, self-triggering cameras have been quietly clicking away day and night, revealing wild animals in their natural surroundings. The cameras were initially set up as part of a research project. Today, the cameras continue to reveal surprises, including on-trail wildlife use, unexpected species sightings, and a wide diversity of wildlife that share the trails with human visitors.
The program will include a slide show of some of the photos and discussion of the project’s benefits. The wildlife camera project is a cooperative educational effort between the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Department, Rocky Mountain High School, and Rocky Mountain Cat Conservancy. Speakers from each of these groups will be part of the presentation.
“Wild Shots: Local Wildlife Photos” is part of the 2012 Residential Environmental Program Series sponsored by City of Fort Collins Utilities and Natural Resources, http://www.fcgov.com/utilities/community-education/adults/environmental-program-series/. The program is free and no registration is required.
