Fort Collins Museum of Discovery Announces Opening Day
Released on Friday, March 9th, 2012
The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is excited to announce our Opening Day: the fun will begin on November 10, 2012!
Construction of the new 47,000 square-foot building on the corner of Mason and Cherry Streets began in 2010 and was completed in December, 2011. The new museum features 16,000 square feet of permanent exhibit space, a 5,000 square foot changing exhibit gallery, the Digital Dome Theater, the Local History Archive, the Museum Store, two fully equipped classrooms, a Café, and the Rooftop Observation Deck.
Fabrication of the new exhibits is underway, and exhibit installation is expected to begin this summer. The new Museum of Discovery will focus on creating meaningful opportunities for people of all ages to learn, reflect and have fun through hands-on and collections based experiences in science and culture.
The Co-Directors can hardly wait for this day. “We are thrilled that we can finally share an opening day with the community,” said Cheryl Donaldson. “We have been so fortunate to receive such community support through this process, and we are excited to open our doors to everyone. It will be a remarkable experience for our visitors,” added Annette Geiselman.
The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is located at 408 Mason Court, on the corner of Mason and Cherry Streets. More information about opening events and celebrations will be released this summer.
