Beauty and Bugs in Urban Streams, Feb. 29

Learn how nature and art are combined through Art in Public Places and see the wonders of aquatic invertebrates found in local urban streams. Beauty and Bugs in Urban Streams combines both topics, Wednesday, Feb. 29, 7-9 p.m., Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Dr. Pre-registration is not necessary for this free program.

The City of Fort Collins Art in Public Places Program will highlight local projects featuring artwork inspired by our natural environment. Meet artist Joe McGrane, who will share his expertise in combining nature and art to create such works as the Spring Creek Water Cycle Wall.

Colorado State University’s Dr. Boris Kondratieff, world-renowned aquatic entomologist, will wrap up the evening by bringing to life the world of aquatic invertebrates found in our urban streams. Learn what aquatic life can tell us about the health of a stream and the wonders they hold. Kondratieff is the curator of the C.P. Gillette Museum of Arthropod Diversity, a three million-specimen collection.
