Energy and water conservation is front and center this fall as Fort Collins Utilities rolls out a comprehensive public outreach campaign to draw attention to the power of individual conservation actions that together help the entire community.
The campaign, Make Efficient Choices, encourages residents to combine energy and water efficiency improvements so their homes can feel more comfortable, perform better, use less energy and water and save homeowners money on their utility bill. The fall campaign is part of the Utilities’ ongoing effort to help the City and its residents reduce energy and water usage permanently to meet the City’s overall energy and water conservation goals. Tagged, Fort Collins Conserves, the ongoing endeavor focuses on how the Utilities can continue to deliver reliable, cost-effective services while minimizing the environmental impacts of its operations. Starting this Saturday through November 14 (see list at end), Utilities staff will be in local home-improvement and hardware stores to provide conservation tips and advice, promote compact fluorescent lighting choices and offer ENERGY STAR® appliance rebates. During the events, customers have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win a free home energy and water audit plus $500 toward making efficient upgrades to their homes. Also, residents can receive rebates up to $50 for purchasing qualified programmable thermostats, power strips and water-efficient showerheads—all designed to save energy and/or water.
